Strait Ranches’ Santa Gertrudis herd was established in 1951 by Y.C. Strait in Big Wells, Texas. Today, Strait Ranches is owned by the Y.N. Strait family of Streetman, Texas with operations in Freestone, Navarro, Dimmit, Frio and La Salle counties. Strait Ranches is still driven by the need to produce fertile, functional, efficient beef cattle. Quite simply, our Santa Gertrudis cattle have been selected to perform in all environments. We are focused on continuous improvement and identification of superior genetics through DNA collection, performance testing, and phenotypic evaluation.
HEFTE RANCH
With cattle located in Medina County and Nueces County, TX, we aim to produce Santa Gertrudis cattle that can thrive in these challenging environments, while still offering excellent fertility, adequate growth and desirable carcass traits to compete with today's industry standards. As a seedstock producer, we take our role very seriously and work our hardest to offer the best animals we can produce to our buyers. DNA, genomics, modern reproductive technologies and prolific record keeping are utilized in our quest to produce the most efficient and productive animal possible.

The first Strait-Hefte Tried & True Sale was held in Carrizo Springs in 2018. Over the past seven years, the sale has grown in size and is a premier sale in the Santa Gertrudis breed. We look forward to continuing to supply our customers with the best Santa Gertrudis genetics.
